Gail’s vision for over fifteen years has been directed towards creating decoration using mosaic elements, some traditional, others her own experimentation.
Certain materials – glass, terra cotta – Gail manipulates or cuts; others – shells, stones, crystals – she may find or take directly from nature and still others – colored mixtures – she forms into tiles, and then etches.
Each work is unique, created for that specific environment, interpreting the vision of owner and / or architect.
Small or large scale, Gail’s work can be applied to flat surface as well as furniture or accessories. All is mounted on silicon net, ready for application by professional tilers. In most instances, Gail prefers to be present to oversee installation and final cleanup of the work.
Gail began her career in design in the area of women’s clothing. Initially, she put together one-of-a-kind pieces in her storefront studio in the budding days of New York’s SoHo. Ultimately her activity grew into her own label with a showroom in the garment center.
Always wishing to maintain her individuality, she stuck to her “sixth sense” in her approach to design. Also, whenever possible, she collaborated on special projects such as creating the “big suit” for David Byrne.
